Newfangled Glass

I recently went along to a glass workshop run by Jill Conlan at The Newfangled Glass Company. We had several hours of fantastic fun creating Christmas decorations and were shown a variety of basic glass techniques including cutting and grinding to create shaped glass for kiln fusing, painting with glass enamels and decorating with glass frits. I highly recommend popping along to one of Jill’s classes, it was informative and interesting while being very relaxed and friendly.

Artbound Opening Night

Last night saw the preview of the Artbound show at Resonate. A huge thanks to everyone who came along to make the night a great success. I tried to get a few pictures of the exhibition but had to give up pretty quickly as it was rather busy. Here’s what I managed to capture at the beginning of the night.

Artbound at Resonate

Along with several other artists, I will be exhibiting my own hand bound artist
book and a selection of photographs at Resonate (Unit A3, North Castle Street, Alloa FK10 1EU) from 13th August to 10th September.

Reality Drowned - an image from my book

A private viewing will take place on Friday 12th August at 7.00pm. International poet Billy Letford will be opening the evening and performing a selection of his own work. I’ve attended a performance by Billy before and can wholeheartedly say it’s not to be missed!

Yotsume Toji

Last Thursday, I tried my hand at Yotsume Toji (four hole japanese stab binding) at a workshop held at Resonate Arts house.

The course was run by talented artist Jana Emburey. I highly recommend having a look at Jana’s website www.jeart.eu to view her fantastic paintings and I just love those monoprints too.

Jana will be running an intensive weekend monoprinting course on the 9th and 10th of July at Resonate. More information about the course can be found here.
